History

Look fantastic was founded by Daniel Crown in 1996. The inspiration to create his own hair and beauty online business came from Daniel’s father who owned a salon in Brighton. Daniel was not particularly interested in cutting people's hair however he was fascinated by the internet and began working at a small web design company as an intern. After 3 months he was offered a permanent position and continued to help the firm build up a large portfolio of around 50 websites

Unfortunately by 1998 the company had run into funding problems and was struggling to keep all of their websites operational. Crown offered to vacate his position on the proviso that could could take on one of the websites with lookfantistic.com being his preffered choice. After taking over the site he saw that sales revenue was very low and decided to implement a new ecommerce platform, add more products, and also redesign the site. Daniel also began to invest more money into internet advertising as more competitors entered the marketplace.

By 2005 the company was hitting £6.3 million in annual sales, Daniel expanded the company further by purchasing his father's chain of hairdressing salons and academies. In 2008 he acquired a rival chain of salons, bringing the tally to thirteen. Lookmantastic.com was also launched to cater for the popular male grooming products market. With the business outgrowing its warehouse and requiring a new ecommerce platform Daniel decided to sell his company to Hut Group in 2010 for £19 million, Crown would remain as CEO. The website today attracts more than 500,0000 unique visitors per month with sales in 2015 reaching £80 million.

To arrange a return:
